“Art pop sonic and visual experimentalists” UK based Breton, will be on tour with Ghostpoet September/October throughout the UK including the October 13th London show at Scala, which we will hopefully be attending.

Their new single is out officially November called “Edward the Confessor/Kensington System.” Breton’s remixes, under the name BretonLABS, have done remixes for Local Natives, Tom Vek, Temper Trap and more.

Live, Breton performs as a full piece band, shrouded in black hoods, set to a backdrop of self shot movies. Most recently, they supported Tom Vek’s comeback UK tour which was sold out.

New Artist: Ghostpoet

ghostpoet

A friend at Kayak music introduced me to Ghostpoet months ago but I didn’t get around to listening (foolishly). Now, ever since I checked out a few tracks, I can’t stop searching for more and more.

Ghostpoet is an experimental hip-hop artist from London. His EP from 2010 and more recently some tracks and remixes below are all previews for his first album, set to debut early next year. Til then, you can catch him on his UK tour for the rest of September through October. He plays London’s Scala venue on October 13.

Below is 7 tracks and remixes titled “Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jams”, starting with one of my new favorites called “Liiines.”

M83’s Upcoming Album Release

M83 FTBP1

Hurry up, we’re dreaming. This is the title of M83’s upcoming album due for release on the 18th of October, but I reason to say that it’s too late M83; we already are. We’re dreaming of listening to every last track on this highly-anticipated delight of a double disk.

After the release of single Midnight City, and the almost immediate remix put forth from Trentemøller, Anthony Gonzalez has proven – yet again – that like a fine wine seasoned with time, M83’s musical output just keeps getting better and better. Way to go Anthony, you deserve a cookie.

Tour dates are set and they’re NY bound for Webster Hall on Nov 22 & Music Hall of Williamsburg on Nov 23, so mark it up and move it out. We can only dream of what’s instore.

GIRLS New Album

girls (band)

San Francisco indie rock eight-member band Girls is set to release their second album on September 13 on True Panther Sounds. I haven’t heard all of it yet but the few tracks I’ve heard confirmed my excitement, particularly that of front man’s, Christopher Owens’ vocals and signature sound.

Owens has noted in interviews that a heavy influence on his sound is largely due to the time he spent in a cult called Children of God, where they were forbidden to listen to music. He was only able to hear music from screened films the group was allowed to watch.

The album is called Father, Son, Holy Ghost…so look out for it in a few weeks and purchase on itunes, etc. Check out the first single, released in July called “Vomit” and the second recently released single is “Honey Bunny.”

New Artist: Masquer

Masquer FTBP

Teaser…

Masquer is new Swedish synth-pop duo Kicki Halmos & Pelle Lundqvist, and I fell hard when I heard their new single release Happiness for the first time.  Bruises hard.  Think dark mystic guitars + that feeling you got in 2001 when you were still wearing boot cut jeans but heard The Knife for the first time + sultry beats that make you want to dance.  Or become a goth.  Or both.

In further description, I could also throw in there that front chick Kicki has publicly stated that she thinks children are creepy, but for today we’ll nevermind that.

The duo is planning a major tour with the release of their debut album in September, though they’ve guised that dates & locations are top secret.  So until September, we’ll just have to wait.  In the meantime you can cyber stalk them in all their cyber forms and find a free download of their new single here.

Cannot wait to hear this album in its entirety.

Chrome Sparks – My <3

My <3 is the new 7-track debut EP from Chrome Sparks, aka 20-year-old Jeremy Malvin from Ann Arbor, MI.  Says Force Field PR – the new material “features shimmering 808 beats and super clean electronic textures.”  Here’s the second track “All There Is” featuring vocals by Steph Thompson (Steffaloo).

This is awesome…

Stroked

For the 10th Anniversary of the debut album from The Strokes, Stereogum put together STROKED: A Tribute To Is This It, a free tribute album comprised of Stereogum’s favorite indie bands covering the album in its entirety.  And it’s awesome.  Check out the whole thing here, and some of our favorite tracks below.
