Mumford & Sons

I’ve been listening to a lot of indie folk recently.  This might be a result of my complete obsession with Frightened Rabbit last summer.

My new jam is Mumford & Sons, specifically the song “Little Lion Man” – I just love that kind of sad yet powerful release, set to a jangly orchestral sound.

Mumford & Sons are a British folk rock act that formed in 2007, toured extensively in 2008 and were long-listed for the BBC’s Sound of 2009.

After a few EPs over the past two years, their debut album Sigh No More was released in October, produced by Markus Dravs who engineered albums for Bjork, Coldplay and Arcade Fire’s Neon Bible (and is back in the studio now with Arcade Fire working on their third album due out in 2010).

Currently touring India, Australia and the UK, Mumford & Sons played CMJ in New York City in October and just announced new tours dates for early 2010, including a Bowery Ballroom show on February 18th.  Tix go on sale today here.

So listen, love, and get excited because it’s FRIDAY…
