The Big Pink – A Brief History of Love

Last week, London-based duo The Big Pink announced the name of their forthcoming LP, titled A Brief History of Love, out on September 14th through 4AD.
Soulful, futuristic, dream-like and epic, The Big Pink caught our attention a few weeks ago when they played their first-ever North American show at The Mercury Lounge, joined live by Daniel O’Sullivan from Guapo and SunnO, Jo Apps from the Planet Mu label, drummer Akiko Matsuura of Pre and Comanechi, and Al O’Connell producer/engineer for the likes of The Rapture and Klaxons.
In a recent interview with BBC 6music, the band explained “every song is a love song to some degree, about every different aspect of love. The good, the bad, the boring, the exciting, the dreams, the nightmares, the whole thing and I guess that’s what encompasses the whole album, and we have a song called A Brief History Of Love, so it’s apt.”
Spending the beginning of the summer recording here in New York City at Electric Lady Studios (now putting the finishing touches on the LP), The Big Pink is preparing to embark on a tour, mostly European festivals, including the Leeds Festival, Glastonbury Festival and Reading Festival. Damn we’d love to follow them around. Check out their schedule here: http://www.myspace.com/musicfromthebigpink
Also, take a look at a few of their videos — beautiful, artistic and dark, they perfectly complement the dream-like anthems.
